The Way Home Season 3 Episode 9 has just invalidated 3 major theories about Colton

Thinking up theories is a specialty of Ponderers, but the Way home season 3 episode 9 has just three great invalidation for the Teen Colton storyline.

In season 1 from the way home, fans learned that Colton died in a car accident in 2000, unable to cope with the grief of his missing son, Jacob. While everyone assumed that he had died after a freak carnival accident in 1999, he had actually fallen into the pond and grew up by accident in the 19th century. Quite difficult for a father to guess, right?

It became more complicated when a teenage version of Colton was introduced in season 3, with daughter Kat and granddaughter Alice who could visit him in 1974. To make things even more confusing, Colton was unveiled as a time traveler in episode 2.

We have spent the rest of the Binge-worthy TV program wondering what the hell one of these means at the moment, and the Way Home Season 3 Episode 9 has finally given us answers. However, answers mean that the patenting of three popular fan theories. Warning: Spoilers forward!

The Way Home Season 3 Episode 9 proves that Colton did not know the real identity of Jacob

The Way Home Season 3 Episode 9 tells us that Colton used the pond only twice – once accidentally against Elia and Jacob (seen in episode 8), and once to save Jacob van de Vuur.

When he tells his experiences to Alice, he tells her about how he met his ‘founding family’, which means that he really had no idea who Jacob really was.

In his defense there was never any reason for Colton to suspect anything. In episode 8 we already knew that Jacob Colton had been thanks to the sketch of Susanna, but now we see it playing for ourselves.

A weeks wet Colton arrives in the Landry house dazed and confused, with Elia and Jacob who introduce themselves. Thanks to Susanna who gives Elia a copy of the Almanac, he teaches that it is 1814, plays that he does not know what is going on.

We also see what actually happened while Susanna sketched, where Colton said: “The time I spent here is the same as the time I am gone.” Where does this come from? “It’s something that my grandmother always said.” Fern … we know you know more than you leave.

Colton tells Jacob that they have built something that ‘will last for generations’, asked him to plant as much rye and potatoes as they can this year and the following year (think: the year without the summer is not far away).

When Cyrus later turns the city against the Landrys and burns the farm, Jacob and Cyrus are inside when the roof cave. Knowing that he does not die, refuses to save Kat Cyrus, with a figure dragging Jacob and saves his life. The figure? Teen Colton, who apparently returned. “This is all my fault,” he exclaims before he flees.

We now know why Colton thought this. On his last day of school (The Day Jasper promised him the performance at Coyle), he angry his backpack in the pond after a fight with his mother. When he tried to get it, he fell in and ended up where we saw him the last episode in 1814.

He explains that he met his ancestors – here suggests that Colton suggests that he completely believed that Jacob was of his time – Alice told him that he could not help them through the year of Jasper’s folk songs.

While Colton suspects Alice of (rightly) as a time traveler, finding himself in the 1800s was enough to throw him off Jacob’s scent. Discovering Colton did not really lie about Jacob’s residence for the whole of their marriage, should have been a consolation for Del, but we are just starting to unravel her problems. In all honesty you would think he had brought two and two as a possibility.

Colton tried not to find his brother

Thanks to Oma Fern’s Riddle from 1965 – and we already know that Colton’s older brother was missing that same year – it was generally believed that he might have used the pond for the first time to try to find him. However, we now know that this was not the case, as a child first jump in to try to save Evelyn.

Colton explains how Fern him said he would never go into the pond until he was older and completely believed the stories she used. He reveals that he jumped into the pond for the first time in 1965 to try to save Evelyn, but nothing happened. Then the thinking of Colton changed, believed that the pond was only dangerous for children.

Growing up together, both Colton and Evelyn were addicted to Fern’s stories, but after nothing happened, Colton began to believe that Port Haven was right – perhaps his grandmother wax crazy.

At any time it was mentioned in the episode of Colton’s brother, so we have to assume that Colton really has no idea what happened to him. He only traveled to the 1800s twice, and he was enough traumatized by the last visit to never do it again.

Whether we get answers to Colton’s missing brother in episode 10 (or Fern’s Riddle, in that respect) still to be seen.

Colton did not travel on time (but has violated the rules)

Fan theories are circulating whether Colton has violated the golden rules of time travel: you cannot travel ahead on time, only to the past. By traveling exclusively to the 1800s, the Way Home confirms this version of Colton from 1974 as told. However, he has violated the rules in a different way.

All this comes back on his visit to Elia and Jacob in 1814. By telling them how they can prepare for the year of No Summer from 1816, he accidentally told them their future. He told Fern what happened in the hope that she would be satisfied, but she was angry. “You told them their future … You broke the rules,” she told him.

After Rick’s death, Colton tried to use the pond to save it, in the conviction that the pond will always take you where you need to go. The pond did not work, convinced with Colton that this is because he has violated the rules. As far as we know, he was limited to 1974 from that moment.

The home season 3 is currently being broadcast on the Hallmark channel. Catching up with whom the mysterious couple could be, as well as the best characteristic films and the best characteristic TV shows of all time.
