Apple finally brought back its entry phone, the iPhone 16th. The three-year gap of the previous model release gave Apple the time to implement a great renewal, including the addition of Apple Intelligence, supported by the A18 chipset, an Apple modem, a larger battery capacity, more storage options and Face ID, to name just a few.
The best part – it is all packaged in a price tag of $ 599, hundreds of dollars cheaper than the basics iPhone 16 -Model.

To find out how the iPhone 16th relates to the rest of the line -up, I switched my iPhone 16 Pro, which I use every day every day since the release in September, to the iPhone 16th. My findings: I am just as impressed when I am stunned. I will go deep below.
1. The software ft. Apple Intelligence
From the point of view of software, the iPhone 16th delivers everything it promises. The transition from the iPhone 16 Pro to the iPhone 16th was absolutely seamless because both have the same silicon, with which they can perform the latest iOS at full capacity, including all Apple Intelligence functions.
This means that despite the lower price tag and not having as many GPU nuclei as other A18 variants in the iPhone 16 -Line -Up, the iPhone 16th I still have to gain access to all functions for Apple Intelligence, including writing aids, salmaries, visual playground, and my favorite, and my favorite, and my favorite, and my favorite, and my favorite, and my favorite,, and my favorite, and my favorite,, and my favorite, and my favorite,, and my favorite, and my favorite,, and my favorite

The most important thing is that when the full series of Apple Intelligence functions rolls out, iPhone 16th users have full access to it. Users with an iPhone 15 model or lower have no access.
Apple Intelligence is intended as a “personal intelligence” system based on your personal information and context. It can retrieve data from your apps and refer to the content on your screen. iPhone 16th users have access to this advanced help, while they still save a few hundred dollars on the first device.
2. Cameras (or lack of)
The camera on the front of the iPhone 16th is the same as the other iPhone 16-line-up: a 12MP camera on the front, which means that your selfies will be exactly the same. A quick glance at the back of the iPhone 16th, however, reveals that the camera system is considerably more primitive than that of the iPhone 16 Pro.

The iPhone 16th has a 48MP wide camera on the back with an integrated 2x telephoto photo, which, although an upgrade of the previous model, can be a dealbreaker for photo lovers. As expected, I discovered that the dual camera system of the iPhone 16 Pro produces more polished photos than the double functioning camera of the 16th. My biggest battle did not have the 12MP Ultra Wide Camera, which I constantly use on the iPhone 16 Pro to take 0.5x photos.
Due to the lower camera, some of the more advanced functions on iPhone 16 Pro, such as photographing Proraw or Cinematic Video, are not available. However, the smartphone can still take beautiful photos, so if you are not looking for photos of the highest quality and just want to capture memories, this is still a solid option.
3. Missing dynamic island/camera control
The biggest difference in the form factor of the iPhone 16th, except the slightly smaller 6.1-inch size, is the lack of a dynamic island and camera management button. Although the lack of these two elements makes the lake look like the iPhone 14 and therefore a bit dated, their absence had no influence on my day. It even made me think about when I use one of the functions, and the answer is rarely.

On the iPhone 16 Pro I enjoy using the camera control button to open the camera and make photos easier without having to click on the shutter button in the middle of the screen. However, because the iPhone 16th contains a control button, I was only assigned the camera and I could use it in the same way as on camera control.
Honorable mentions
The iPhone 16th has some other fascinating functions that are not mentioned above, including:
- Are lightweight: Having a phone in my back pocket as light as the iPhone 16th is so refreshing after wearing many heavier models for years. The iPhone 16th weighs 5.88 grams (167 grams) and the iPhone 16 Pro Max weighs 7.03 grams (199 grams).
- Apple C1 Modum: The iPhone 16th also has Apple’s first internal 5G modem, the Apple C1. This modem is a step away from the traditional Qualcomm connection and is intended to give users a fast and reliable 5G connection. In the long term it should optimize the battery life. In my experience, my service has been exactly the same, what the intended goal is.
- Battery life: The iPhone 16th offers video play up up to 26 hours, which the Metric Apple uses to measure the battery life. This means that older model users will see an enormous improvement. For example, iPhone 11 users get another six hours of battery life with the upgrade. The iPhone 16 offers a maximum of 26 hours of video playing, just a little more.
In general, it is a solid phone for people who are willing to refrain from some bells and whistles from the rest of the iPhone 16 -Line -up. From my tests, the greatest sacrifice will be the ultra-wide lens and advanced photography and videoography functions, but if you are not interested in photography, this may not be a problem for everyday recordings.
